White Barn Millworks is one of our best sources for unique, custom milled, and whole log material. “At the right time for the right reason” is the White Barn Millworks Motto, and truly bears witness to a staggering development in our forests. The threat of massive fires has never been greater, nor the need for better management of our forest resources. To that end White Barn is unique in its proactive forestry management, and business model.

Most of my larger dimension slabs, log works, and root carvings have all been supplied by White Barn Millworks. The owner Peter Seward is what you would expect from a business like this, country, friendly, honest, and willing to go the extra mile to deliver a superior product.

As a builder by trade I have used White Barn Millworks products for various projects. They have produced lumber for me in dimensions ranging from 4” thick x 23”wide x 16’6”long all the way to 1”thick x 24”wide x 8’3”long. Their materials have been used in a commercial bar, various rustic furniture projects, shop framing projects; i.e., benches, pull cart, and shelving.

The Sugar Pine Beams White Barn Millworks produced for me were amazing, Four 4” x 23” x 16’6” were produced from wind blown debris. My partner at the time, and I built a commercial bar with the Sugar Pine Beams. The wood milled like butter, joined like steel, and finished like glass.

The owners Dean and Aliah wanted something really special, you be the judge.

If you are in the Redding area you will find the Uncorked Wine Bar on Hilltop Drive. They cater to people who love atmosphere, wine, beer, and the wood they have displayed.

A good friend of mine and I built this in 2008 under the name Dreamwood Innovations The bar top was made from a one hundred year old blown down Sugar Pine milled to 4 inches thick by 22+inches wide, there are Lodgepole Pine cants, and all horizontal surfaces have three coats of Marine Epoxy.

The entire bar has Log Accents, and Douglas Fir Mini Bar Rails.

Oddly enough the Eagles sibling from the same log is Aslan the Lion.

This Eagle stands over five feet high holding a Rattlesnake three inches in diameter, and six feet long. The wood is Western Red Cedar that has been finished with multiple coats of Watco Danish Oil. Danish Oil is mostly known for interior use however companies such as Bell Canoes recommend it for the Ash wood on their boats. We find it to be a great oil for coating these one of a kind pieces, providing a sealing effect without being to heavy.

The Eagle was sculpted in the summer of 2008 using a Husquavarna 375, echo 302, Stihl MS192 T, and various other wood shaping tools. All surfaces were finally hand sanded prior to finish oil application.
